The first North East Healthy Communities Forum “Innovating for Healthy Communities” was a great opportunity for health and human service organisations from the local area to showcase innovation, connect with colleagues and foster collaboration.
Keynote speeches from local Eltham MP Vicki Ward and Professor Alan Shiell provided great insights into the political and academic aspects of community health work, and how vital our sector is to supporting local populations. Our guests were also treated to presentations and workshops from a broad range of local service providers. Hearing first-hand about all of the hard work and commitment behind these programs, and some encouraging outcomes and change, was truly inspirational.
We would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this event and look forward to hosting the next Forum in early 2019.
Vicki Ward, MP
North East Healthy Communities acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land we work on. We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present and acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first people of this nation.
