North East Healthy Communities receives grant for social inclusion project

North East Healthy Communities has received an $80,000 grant to develop a project aimed at improving support for older people in Melbourne’s north eastern suburbs.

The grant is one of three awarded to new community initiatives and forms part of the state government’s Strengthening Seniors Inclusion and Participation program.

The Social Inclusion Project will partner with local councils and community groups over the next two years to address barriers to participation for local seniors. This process will include consulting with older people, their carers and local experts to develop and trial new approaches in the areas of Darebin, Banyule and Nillumbik.

North East Healthy Communities acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land we work on. We pay our respects to their Elders both past and present and acknowledge all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first people of this nation.
